Summer Reading
I can’t believe we’re halfway through 2023 already. Where has the time gone? Oh yeah, I’ve been busy writing!
Two releases came out this week - just in time for beach reading!
First, we’re back on tour, this time with Murderous Crows. Remember Jake and his mezcal from Almost? Well, it hasn’t done him any favors and, in fact, brings about tragic consequences. It’s a heart-wrenching story of loss, forgiveness, and ultimately love. Coda is free in KindleUnlimited, and available in audio everywhere (performed by the ever-amazing Samantha Brentmoor and Aaron Shedlock).
Then, late on Friday, I sprung a surprise release on everyone! I’ve been working on Benji and Joe’s story (also from Almost) in between other projects and just about finished it in time for pride month. In Reach follows Benji and Joe’s journey as they each find themselves in a grief support group against their will. Everyone handles grief differently, and not all of us handle it well. Amazingly, their initial meetings weren’t full of butterflies and rainbows, so it’s a hard-fought road to get together. These two have always had a soft spot in my heart, and I’m glad to finally tell their tale. In Reach is available on Amazon and KindleUnlimited. I would love to make it into an audiobook. What do you think? Would you listen to a short novella?
I think that’s it for releases this week and this month! Currently, the next book in the Rhapsody Rock Star Romance Series, Reprise, is complete, and the audiobook is in the very capable hands of Kit Swann and Blake Lockheart. No exact release date yet, but I’m hoping to have it in your hot little hands sometime in July. Reprise follows Logan Edwards, darling brother of Beatrice Edwards (Thompson) from Ms. Take. He’s the bass player for Murderous Crows. While the band is auditioning for a new drummer for their record, a blast from his past comes back to haunt him. You’ll need to read it to find out if that’s a good or bad thing.
While I try to release my books and audiobooks at the same time, unfortunately, that isn’t going to be possible now that I’m no longer exclusive with Audible (They won’t agree to a set release date, regardless of when submitted if I’m not exclusive to them). So starting at the end of the summer, I will be staggering releases of ebooks and print versions with audiobook versions. It will be messy like the release of Coda was earlier this week, but I can’t do much about that either. Sometimes sticking to your principles about certain things can feel a bit like signing your own death warrant. Hopefully, my loyal readers and listeners stay with me. And I’ll keep saying it - there are other platforms out there, as well as libraries. You can even buy direct from me on my website (and it’s hella cheaper).
Book releases are a hell of a lot like playing a rock show - nothing ever goes as planned. But in the end, it’s worth it. And damn, it’s a fun ride! As we used to say back in the day, ‘When you least expect it, expect it.’
(To be fair, we said a lot of stupid shit.)
Have a fantastic summer and happy reading!
