Across the Universe
I’m finding it a little difficult to switch my headspace from the world of Indigo King to that of Mischief Motors. I’m sure this is common for writers starting a new series, but it’s still something I need to deal with. The worlds are completely different, well, not the worlds, it’s the same damn world, but you know what I mean. I’m not talking quantum mechanics here, just…environs? I guess? I don’t know.
With Indigo King, it was fairly simple - they were on the road a lot, so travel and concert locations were fairly easy to visualize and describe. For the Drive Me Wild Series, it’s almost entirely set in Las Vegas. And while I have spent a fair amount of time in Vegas, (okay, a lot) I don’t live there. I wrote about Vegas some in Almost, but not in super great detail. I suppose maybe a research trip might be in order…yeah that’s it.
Transitioning from a rock star’s head to that of a billionaire is turning out to be a bit of a challenge too. Most likely because I know the brains of rock stars. Billionaires? Not so much. I guess this is the test, right? Do my ideas and my imagination have what it takes to portray someone realistically (but not too much so) if I don’t have that life experience? Sure, we all dream of being rich, but that’s where it usually ends. Writing from a male billionaire’s perspective is really going to give my imagination a workout!
Hmmm… Maybe my next series will be about female billionaires… I like it.
Nerves and anxiety aside, I am excited about this new series. I’ve started writing, and I like the characters (I originally wrote “people.” Jesus.) so far. That’s a big deal for me. If I don’t like my characters, you won’t like them either. I am currently enjoying the challenge. We’ll see if I can keep up.
Bring it Mischief Motors.
